Maria Elizondo was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2014. Hodgkin Lymphoma is a cancer that starts in the white blood cells, called lymphocytes, which are a part of the body's immune system and what help to protect the body from infection and disease.

Treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma includes chemotherapy, radiation therapy, stem cell transplants and blood transfusions. For Maria, blood (platelet) transfusions helped her body cope with the effects of chemotherapy and reduced the risk of infection.

Maria found strength to fight cancer through her determination and resilience. She refused to give up and kept fighting, even when the odds were stacked against her. She was determined to beat cancer and kept a positive attitude throughout her battle.

In memory of Maria, please consider donating blood in efforts to help save lives. A decision to donate your blood can save multiple lives.
